Call for CBMS Doctoral Consortium Papers ( PDF )

The Doctoral Consortium at the IEEE 33rd International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (IEEE CBMS 2020) provides an opportunity for PhD students to present their research plans or their preliminary research work in an informal and supportive atmosphere. The PhD students are able to discuss the problems that their PhDs are addressing, any preliminary results, and their future plans. The Doctoral Consortium offers them an opportunity to discuss any problems that they have come up against, and gain valuable advice and constructive feedback from experienced researchers in the field.

The Doctoral Consortium involves presentations by participating PhD students (selected by the Doctoral Consortium Chairs) as well as a number of participants on different related topics in the field.

Submissions:

Submissions to the Doctoral Consortium at CBMS should focus on a PhD thesis or a part of the thesis work. To apply for participation at CBMS 2020 Doctoral Consortium, you should submit a research plan on a topic related to the areas covered in the general or special tracks call for papers for the conference. Each submission should be in the same format as the main conference papers except it should consist of at most 4 pages describing the research work. For instance, the paper could include the following parts:
  • Title and author(s)
  • The research problem that the PhD addresses
  • Planned approach and methods for solving the problem
  • How this approach compares to other known approaches
  • Any preliminary results or expected results
  • Future plans and directions with specific questions

Important dates:

  • Paper submission: February 29, 2020
  • Notification of acceptance: March 30, 2019
If you have any inquiries, you can contact the Doctoral Consortium Chairs via email at cbms2020doctoral@gmail.com .

Submission guidelines:

Each contribution must be prepared following the IEEE two-column format, and should not exceed the length of 4 (four) Letter-sized pages; the authors may use LaTeX or Microsoft Word templates when preparing their manuscripts. Follow the instructions on the conference page at http://cbms2020.org/authors.html .

Papers must be submitted electronically using the EasyChair conference management system at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cbms2020.

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by three reviewers of the Program Committee. Acceptance will be decided on the basis of the suitability to the Doctoral Consortium, novelty and originality of the research and quality of presentation. Accepted papers will be published in a dedicated section of the conference proceedings. Publication in proceedings is conditioned to the registration and presentation of the paper at the conference by one of the authors of the paper. If the paper is not presented at the conference it will not be included in the proceedings.
